Opening Credits Bounty
The bounty for Vash the Stampede is shown in the opening credits sequence. The only information presented is that Vash’s bounty is set at $$60,000,000,000: sixty billion double dollars. As the first episodes center around the fact that no one knows what Vash actually looks like, it appears that there is no confirmed, publicly available image of Vash in the 1998 timeline.
In “Lost July“, Elizabeth describes the details of Vash’s bounty, which is similar to the details for Vash’s first bounty in the manga: “Vash the Stampede… Age unknown, origin unknown, no fixed address. Wanted for the murder of Count Lebnant Vasques and the suspicion of class-G property damage. They will pay $$60,000,000,000 for you, dead or alive.”
The same poster is shown in “Vash the Stampede” when Meryl is reflecting on Vash’s reputation.
Little Jersey Poster
In “Hang Fire“, in the town of Little Jersey, an unknown man tries to intervene with the local riffraff and this results in mass destruction. The man is seen to be crying and eating doughnuts. The town puts out a poster to warn others about the unknown man, though it does not appear to be an actual bounty. When Meryl Stryfe reaches Little Jersey, she confirms that the unknown man is Vash the Stampede.
Designated Act of God
In “Fifth Moon“, Meryl and Milly receive a letter from the Bernardelli Insurance Society. It declares that Vash is now designated as mankind’s first human Act of God, and therefore any damage he causes will not be covered by Bernardelli.
In the manga, when Vash is declared an official designated localized disaster, this invalidates his bounty. However, there is no clear indication if being designated an Act of God has a similar effect. It is only stated that it invalidates insurance coverage of Vash-related incidents.
One piece of evidence that suggests the Act of God designation does invalidate Vash’s bounty is the opening credits. After this point, instead of his bounty being shown, the credits sequence shows an emergency evacuation order.
In addition, after Fifth Moon people treat Vash differently. Instead of seeking to capture him for his bounty, people run away from him in fear as in “Hang Fire“, or they threaten to kill him or run him out of town, as in “Sin” and “Live Through“. However, the bounty may still exist, and Vash’s reputation may simply be too monstrous for it to be worth pursuing.
Badlands Rumble Bounty
In Badlands Rumble, Vash’s bounty poster is seen. This poster shows a similar image of Vash as the manga, and the bounty is set at $$60,000,000,000: sixty billion double dollars.
