Original Tumblr Post: Colorless expression
Colorless expression
Even with everything else that happens in Trimax, Colorless Expression is the only chapter I was actually viscerally dreading having to reread. It’s one of the only chapters I remembered by name. I put it off as long as I could but I didn’t want to fall behind and finally pushed through it today.
I was moving SO fast on my first read through (which was only earlier this year, January/February ish) just binging multiple volumes in one sitting. And obviously I noticed before volume 6 that it was a lot darker and a lot more serious than the 98 anime was. Idk if it was because of my pace or if I was just a little bit in denial, but Colorless Expression is where I really felt the tone shift for the first time.
This is where I realized, oh, this is going to hurt hurt.
it upsets me in a way I can’t quite explain #particularly the placing of early-manga-Vash’s grinning wanted poster #over his current expression of just misery and self-loathing #I think I actually had to put my phone down there the first time through
