Information on the plants at Jeneora Rock in Trigun Stampede (2023).
The Jeneora Rock Plants
There are two dependent plants at Jeneora Rock in “NOMAN’S LAND“, “The Running Man“, and “Bright Light, Shine Through the Darkness“: a healthy electricity plant and a dying water plant.
Jeneora Electricity Plant
While it is not specified that the healthy Jeneora Rock plant produces electricity, it is highly likely that it does as the Windmill Village was explicitly called out as using wind power instead of a plant that provides power. The electricity plant remains in its closed state despite rough handling and its eventual capture by Knives’ team.
Jeneora Water Plant
It is explicitly said that the red plant at Jeneora Rock produces water, and that its failure has required the town to buy low-quality water from elsewhere. Vash previously was able to heal the water plant when he visited in the past, but the plant has failed again, and according to Vash it is now dying and can no longer be healed. The electricity plant remains in its closed state despite rough handling and its eventual capture by Knives.
The Sand Steamer Plant
The sand steamer plant in “WOLFWOOD” is in its closed state when Vash first approaches it.
Vash leads his forehead and hands against the tank, and the plant begins to open its petals. He apologizes to the plant for what he is about to do, and asks for its help.
When we see the plant’s hands, initially they are the same pale color all the way through.
After Vash has communed with the plant, the fingertips of the plant have turned black. This implies that Vash’s actions have somehow harmed the plant. The black markings that appear initially on both Vash and the plant may imply the use of Vash’s power to take energy away from the plant, instead of giving energy as he does when healing. The visual parallel of the plant markings, and Vash’s black eyebrows with the plant’s black fingertips reveals that they are both plants and implies that both of them have a similar problem.
SEEDS03 Plants
SEEDS03 Electricity Plant
In “Our Home“, a few weeks after The Big Fall, a vital electricity plant on SEEDS03 turns red and begins to fail. The SEEDS03 crew are shocked to see “the flower is opening” when the plant unfurls. Luida says its vitals are “everywhere” and suspects the plants are not compatible with the planet’s environment.
Vash is brought to the failing plant and instinctively communes with it and heals or otherwise enables the plant to recover despite any compatibility issues with the planet.
Once the plant is healed, Vash’s plant markings fade away again.
Another SEEDS03 Plant
Later, we see Vash helping another, unidentified SEEDS03 plant.
SEEDS Wreckage Plant
In “Our Home“, when teen Vash is traveling with Brad, they visit a wrecked SEEDS ship. Vash helps one of the plants there.
SEEDS05 Plant
In “High Noon at July”, Rem brings a very young Vash and Knives to the SEEDS05 plant area, and brings them to a plant in a large plant case, signifying its power. The plant starts to open its petals, and Vash and Knives both stare in surprise and awe. This may be the first time they’ve seen a dependent plant open. The significance of this plant is unclear, but one possibility is that this is the plant that created the twins.
JuLai Carrier Plants and the Last Run
In “Millions Knives“, teen Knives and Conrad are staying on the plant carrier that will one day become the city of JuLai. An alarm sounds and they run into the plant area to discover that the plants are all dying, and the plant engineers are executing a Last Run to extract one last burst of energy from them. On closeup, we can see that the plant is turning black as it dies.
When the Last Run begins, the dying plants light up an intense red color. The dying plants give a silent scream of agony, bodies taut. As they die, their bodies turn completely black and begin to flake apart.
JuLai Plants
Knives has gathered a large number of healthy dependent plants and placed them into a huge tank for his plan to impregnate them.
When Knives opens Vash’s portal to the higher dimension, the dependent plants connected to Vash’s roots begin to glow blue and then open. Once open, the tips of their wings are tinted magenta, and their bellies swell as if pregnant. Knives enters the portal and penetrates the Core with his knife tentacles, which may complete their impregnation. After Vash awakens and the portal closes, the plants appear to remain pregnant. Their status will presumably be confirmed in season 2.
