Vash leads his forehead and hands against the tank, and the plant begins to open its petals. He apologizes to the plant for what he is about to do, and asks for its help.

When we see the plant’s hands, initially they are the same pale color all the way through.

After Vash has communed with the plant, the fingertips of the plant have turned black. This implies that Vash’s actions have somehow harmed the plant. The black lines that appear initially on both Vash and the plant may imply the use of Vash’s power to take energy away from the plant, instead of giving energy as he does when healing. The visual parallel of the plant markings, and Vash’s black eyebrows with the plant’s black fingertips reveals that they are both plants and implies that both of them have a similar problem.
