The Goa'uld

What They Are: Snake-like parasitic race of conquerers. A larval Goa'uld matures as a symbiote in the pouch of a Jaffa, after which it enters a host and takes control by wrapping itself around the spine and controlling the nervous system.
What They're After: Survival. They dominate and enslave host species to create a constant supply of hosts and workers.
Personal Vendettas: They consider all other species to be mere animals, and claim that "nothing of the host survives."
Weaponry: Various naquadah-based technologies, including the ribbon device, healing device, and sarcophagus. Lots of Jaffa: their personal guard, incubators, and footsoldiers.

Apophis

Who He Is: Egyptian deity of the underworld. Goa'uld responsible for the abduction of Sha're and Skaara.
What He's After: Galactic domination.
Personal Vendettas: Would like to torture Daniel extremely slowly for information on the Harcesis child. Would like to torture Teal'c extremely slowly for betraying him for the Tau'ri. Just wants to kill Jack at this point.
Weaponry: Ribbon device. Ha'tak motherships. Personal shield. Healing device. Sarcophagus. Zats. Staff weapons. Lots of Jaffa.

The System Lords (And Underlings)
Cronus, Hathor, Heru'ur, Nirrti, Osiris, Seth, Sokar, Tanith, Yu

Who They Are: Various deity-impersonating Goa'uld.
What They're After: Constant jockeying for power keeps them all in check. Cronus was the most powerful System Lord until recently.
Personal Vendettas: Cronus murdered Teal'c's father and sent an Ashrak, a Goa'uld assassin, to kill Jolinar. Osiris would love to get her hands on Daniel. Hathor already did. Tanith and Teal'c would each like to torture the other extremely slowly.
Weaponry: Ribbon device. Ha'tak motherships. Personal shield. Healing device. Sarcophagus. Zats. Staff weapons. Lots of Jaffa.

The NID And Colonel Harry Maybourne

Who They Are: Area 51. A secret coalition of military and civilian interests.
What They're After: Advanced technology at any cost.
Personal Vendettas: Maybourne and Jack have a mutual dislike thing going.
Weaponry: Anything they can get their grubby hands on.

The Replicators

What They Are: Instectoid, hive-based mechanical life.
What They're After: Food. That means you and the ship you rode in on.
Personal Vendettas: None, but the Asgard certainly are sick of them.
Weaponry: Their mouths. Chomp chomp chomp.
