Site News

Monday, August 23, 2004

A whole lot of outdated URLs have been replaced with working links. Big thanks to Gretchen Hook for providing the new links!

Monday, December 30, 2002

The site has been revamped again, with all-new code based on my latest recs site, Versaphile Multi-Fandom Recs. The new site is much cleaner and more flexible.

Tuesday, December 10, 2002

Welcome to Destina Fortunato who has joined the team. She and Alison McRae are the story finders for the site these days, with Patrimas taking care of the technical end.

Tuesday, October 01, 2002

The archive is back, and all links have been fixed; also, some of the lesser fics have been culled out in a quality check. Story updates should be coming again soon.

Sunday, March 24, 2002

A brand-new Daniel fanvid, based on They Might Be Giants' "Dead." (Note: contains spoilers for Meridian)

Tuesday, February 26, 2002

All stories by Rosamund and Azpou's Underworld removed as they have been taken offline.

Tuesday, February 05, 2002

Added a new Sexy Ones manip, "Sleeping Beauty.

Monday, January 28, 2002

A new Funny Ones manip, "Post-It Paul," plus two new video clips from Foothold and Rite Of Passage.

Thursday, January 17, 2002

If you're a fan of Lord Of The Rings, I've started a new LOTR recs site, similar to Rec-Å-Thon, with a companion updates mailing list. I'll be continuing to update both recs sites regularly.

Sunday, January 13, 2002

Lots of new stuff in the rest of the site. We have:

Sunday, December 30, 2001

More new manips for the SG Art Gallery: Teal'c visits "Graceland" and another Paul/Daniel manip that's definitely not for young eyes: "Rear View." The beta database has passed 100 listings this week. Plus, there's a new fanzine reviewed in the zines section: "Event Horizon," an excellent Jack/Daniel zine.

There's a new section for the Rec-Å-Thon: Stargate Oddities. In here are answers to the little mysteries of Stargate: the origin of Jack's scar, the truth behind the rocks/artifacts debate, Jack's dark past revealed, and more. I'll be adding new entries as I dig up more information, but expect a fair amount of fanon debunking in the near future.

I've added a section for Virtual Season Six projects in the Fan Fiction Sites page. If you know of any other virtual season sixes, please let me know so can add them to the links.

Wednesday, December 19, 2001

A couple of new manips for the SG Art Gallery: Hammond and Teal'c as "Glabrous Mimes" and a new Scratch Paul/Daniel manip entitled "Rose Water." Also, the beta database has many new additions, with 85 Stargate beta readers available in all.

Friday, December 14, 2001

The SG Art Gallery has been re-vamped, with many new video clips, my version of Daniel's Egyptian Screensaver, and a new Daniel wallpaper entitled "Lucky At Cards"; plus, lots of new additions to the beta database.

Monday, December 03, 2001

A number of small tweaks and fixes have been made since the last update; many new betas have been added. If you run across any areas of the site that don't work properly or have incorrect/missing data, please let me know.

Wednesday, November 28, 2001

Hopefully well worth the wait, the recs site has been revamped! The new site should be much easier to use, and has many new features:

  • New layout for the index page
  • You can now search with multiple items in a single field on the search page
  • New slash and gen zine reviews (under Miscellany)
  • New beta database, for authors seeking betas (under Miscellany)
  • The story directory has its own page, with new menus for episode tags and other areas
  • You can now jump directly to the latest additions from the index page
  • New pairing state info for all slash and het pairings: UST, First Time, and Established, found on the story directory under Keywords
  • Pairing states are displayed after their pairing in each story's information
  • New "Denial" keyword for stories that refute the season 5 episode "Meridian"
  • New technology section of the Stargate Primer
  • Slimmed-down pages display 20 stories at a time instead of 10.

Monday, November 05, 2001

There's a new Theme to play with: Dopplegangers, for all those appearances by robots and clones and alternate universe SG-1 members. Also, if you enjoy the nude (or semi-nude) male body, check out my new series of SG-1 photomanips, featuring Daniel, Jack, and Paul Davis. Nine pics in all.

Monday, October 22, 2001

Oh boy, even more feature updates than last time. The entire search page is revamped. You can now also search by date, between a range of dates, by excluding certain types/pairings/ratings/keywords, and by text of summary or series name.

Check out the spiffy new date function. I'll be using the By Date listing for all future updates, with a link off of this page just as previously I linked to the stories themselves. I also went back and translated the old updates to this format. This should both make it easier for the reader to scan through the new stories and make updates a bit less work for me. All date searches can also be done via the search page, for more precise results.

Thursday, October 18, 2001

Lots of new features with this update:

  • Find specific fandoms for crossovers via the search page.
  • Find specific episodes for missing scenes/episode tags (a better setup than the previous jerry-rig), also via the search page.
  • A couple of new slash-specific themes, kinky smut and bottoming-Jack, available on the directory page under Themes as well as the search page.
  • There's now a new link in the summaries for stories that are part of a series so you can easily list the entire series.

Also, for my fellow Daniel fans, here's a little something you might enjoy. And yes, Jack fans, I'm working on something for you, too.

Tuesday, October 09, 2001

Been up to a number of things between updates. There's a new page on submitting stories to the Rec-Å-Thon and to the various fic archives. Also a bunch of new entries to the Art Gallery, including collages for Jack and Sam individually and various new Daniel manips that should entertain.

Friday, September 21, 2001

There's two new AVI scenes from One False Step on the Art page. Mmm.

Sunday, September 16, 2001

I've added a clip of the elevator scene in The Serpent's Venom to the SG Art page (which also has new humorous manips) for everyone to enjoy.

Tuesday, September 04, 2001

As promised, The Stargate Primer is now available! This is a general and spoiler-light overview of the Stargate universe, both on-screen and in-print. There are sections about characters and storylines as well as lists of excellent introductory fic for readers who are new around here. Even if you've been in the fandom for a while, you might find something new here.

Added three new Theme categories to search by: melancholy stories, fairytales, and practical jokes/pranks.

I have a new Stargate collage piece available on my Stargate Art page. It's based on the episode Absolute Power, and is a bit more etheric than my previous work.

20 new stories altogether this update, and we are solidly over the 600 recs mark!

Saturday, September 01, 2001

At last! The category and search results pages now have the direct pagination links available. This allows you to skip ahead to the number of the page of results you want in the list of results. A few people requested this way back; tell me how you like it. The newbie page, now entitled The Stargate Primer, is *this* close to being ready. I'm just trying to get the last few bits finished; it will hopefully be ready with the next update. Which will, by the way, looking at the stats, put the site over the 600 story mark. Very cool. Finally got around to adding a bunch of web fic by Biblio and Brenda Antrim, among other things. Mailing list fic's still kinda slow getting to the archives; although there are a number of stories worth rec'ing, I need to wait until they've made it to a URL to add them. Oh, well. Patience, patience.

Wednesday, August 29, 2001

I've been tweaking the pairings list a bit both for clarity (converted pairingless slash to Other/Daniel slash) and for database reasons (won't bore you). What does this mean to you, the reader? Pretty much nothing. But I thought I'd mention it. I'm about 3/4 done with the soon-to-be-released Newbie page, which will act as an introductory guide to all manner of Stargate things. 'Twill be spiffy indeed. Due to popular demand I've hunted down a bunch of pretty good Teal'c slash. Oh, my eyes! (Just kidding, I swear!) So all you Teal'c lovers have fun now.

Sunday, August 26, 2001

It appears that users of Netscape 4.x have a bug involving URL parsing that basically means they can't use the >expand< link for search results. Because NS4 users are in such a minority, I'm going to suggest that you use the preinstalled IE (or Opera, or NS6.1, which is much improved over 6.0) if you want to be able to use that feature. I'm looking into alternative listing methods, but as the current style works for pretty much everyone but you, if nothing easy is apparent I'm not going to change it. And as much as I used to love Netscape, c'mon, it sucks badly these days, and it's not like there aren't alternatives. I say make the painful switch and enjoy the benefits.

Thursday, August 23, 2001

Just some housekeeping: I added the ratings category to the main page, and the themes option to the search page.

Wednesday, August 22, 2001

Ah, it's good to be back. I've revamped the main page yet again, and I've added the new Thematic section. Be sure to check it out and tell me if you like it.

Thursday, August 09, 2001

I will be away at SIGGRAPH until the 20th, so no updates for a while.

Sunday, August 05, 2001

In order to enable readers to better utilize the search function to find what they want, I've created a brief primer on using the site. This includes how to find less common pairings, combine multiple variables, find specific episode tags, and more. Be sure to drop me a line if you find this helpful or if there's other complex searches you need help with.

Monday, July 30, 2001

If you'd like some eye candy to go with your fan fic, check out my original Stargate SG-1 collages.

Wednesday, July 25, 2001

So much for my resolution to review all the new recs. Oh well, at least I reviewed Pough's new story.

Friday, July 20, 2001

I've added the ability to search by story length to the category and search pages, plus futzed further with the main page layout.

Sunday, July 15, 2001

I finally went through the Sam/Martouf and started on the Sam/Janet archives, among other things. Also found some readable Sam/Jack, amazing slash by Hellblazer, and a new Corby fic not to be missed.

Wednesday, July 11, 2001

Implemented new page-thru feature for category listings so only 10 stories are listed per page. Starting now all new stories will have capsule reviews when they are added.

Sunday, July 08, 2001

The first new capsule reviews have been added for Anna S.'s slash fic. I hope to add more of these in the near future as time allows.

Monday, July 02, 2001

New Read By Author option in the Special Sections column on the main page.

Tuesday, June 26, 2001

Added the Sam/Martouf Het category and updated the pairings search option. I'll be adding a bunch Sam/Janet and Sam/Martouf stories in the near future. (thanks to Adi for the recs)

Saturday, June 23, 2001

Added the new mailing list for updates and the new linking banners. Partake!

Thursday, June 21, 2001

Fixed the links on the Updates page. D'oh! Not localhost, versaphile.com. Not localhost, versaphile.com. I'll remember that eventually. (rolls eyes at self, thanks Elena for spotting error) Also updated URLs for Anais' fic and homepage. (thanks Xochiquetzl for update)

Tuesday, June 19, 2001

Added the handy key for definitions of fandom terms. Removed: WIPs "This Is Truth" and "A Kind Of Madness" by Morgan, at request of author.

Monday, June 18, 2001

The new database-driven SG-1 Rec-Å-Thon is now completed! In the future, I'll be adding capsule reviews for rec'ed fic, plus a few more options on the search page.
