A Doctor/Master novel set during the Year That Wasn't.

On February 2, 2008, I started what I thought would be a longish project. Filling in the Year That Wasn't -- surely that couldn't take more than a month, maybe two. And then it was three months, and then six, and now a year later, I've finished the first third of a story that shows no sign of slowing down.

On the surface, Praxis is the story of the Doctor's struggle between the Time Lord he loves and the species he swore to protect. It's the story of the Master's games and persuasions, and of everyone else caught in the middle. But beyond that, Praxis is a story about change, about learning or failing to learn from the past, about exactly what it means to save the universe, and what it means to survive. And above all, it's about the Doctor and the Master, with their centuries of history, how it all went wrong and how it could still go right, and how some responsibilities can never be escaped.

From Christmas Eve, all the way through to the end of Last of the Time Lords.

The final book. Follows the consequences of everything that came before -- and drags the Doctor into a whole lot of trouble.
